Getaway Tour - Land & Water

Get ready for this fun-filled day crafted the local way!  We begin our tour with a favorite local trail at Buzzards Roost, a regularly-maintained trail system for hikers and mountain bikers alike!  The trail is closed to motorized vehicles so it's an easy way to set your mind free and enjoy the perspectives from new heights.  The trail is also regularly maintained for Poison Ivy, so you can galavant the whole way with less risk of catching an itch.  The trail totals _______ distance and takes an estimated time of _______ round trip.  

Bring your camera and a smile as this is a view you won't want to miss!  The views from this vantage point are truly breathtaking and also offer a unique view of the city lights if you choose to do this hike at night.  Consider taking a "wee-hours-of-the-morning-" hike to watch the sun come up or a mid-morning hike to beat the heat of the day.  No matter what time you choose to hike Buzzards Roost, you will find fulfillment in the forest paths, wild flowers, and open skies that await you.  

Next up, take a well-deserved break along the way to Pactola Lake and have lunch at Mexico Tipico, one of the best restaurants located between Rapid City and Pactola Lake.  Or, make this the grand finale of your day if you have started out early and conquered the heights of your hike and made a splash with your paddle at the Lake!  (Really, you can have the order of events any way you want for this tour :)  )   *Restaurant food orders are not included in the total price of this getaway tour and are paid for separately on location

OR  Choose to take along and add-on Lake Nachos, Sandwiches, Grocery-store sushi, fresh fruit and veggies, or Grilled Beach Skewers (or choose a combination!) and have a picnic at any point along the way in your day.  

Next up, head to the launch point at Jenny Gulch to cool off and relax on the waters of Pactola Lake aboard your kayak or paddleboard.  This is truly the best place at the lake to put in and paddle as Jenny Gulch is located in a no-wake zone and the water flows right up to the gravel road, making it easy to push off from the shore.  Set out to explore the mini hidden coves or hit the middle waters to watch the spectacle of cliff jumpers. 

This Getaway Tour includes your Local Guide, all safety equipment, paddleboard or kayak with paddle, life vest and waterproof phone case.  Customize your tour and add on a waterproof speaker, a soft cooler, hammocks, camping chairs and more!  

Transportation can be added for up to 4 people.  Please note our fleet vehicles are Ram Trucks and can accommodate 1 passenger in the front seat and 2 or 3 passengers in the back seat, depending on your willingness to be Sardines.  A second vehicle can be added with the same passenger capacity, or we are happy to check on availability of our fellow guide's van seating 16.
